Explaining the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

At the San Diego Comic-Con 2022 event, Kevin Feige announced the official end of Phase 4, starting the Multiverse Saga era with the first film, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. As the name suggests, starting with Phase 5, Marvel will be delving into the Multiverse, thanks to the events that were set in Phase 4.

Therefore, in two articles, I will analyze the two movies belonging to Phase 6, which are Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Of course, I will also talk about related issues, including the construction direction of Marvel Studios. So, let’s talk about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty first!

Main antagonist

If the Infinity Saga has the main villain, the Titan Thanos, then the “last boss” of the Multiverse Saga will be Kang the Conqueror. Kang is originally one of the variants of Nathaniel Richards, the great scientist in the very distant future – the first to discover the existence of the Multiverse, consisting of parallel, alternate realities. and also his duplications, or in other words his variations.

Thanks to that, Nathaniel was exposed to those variations and they shared knowledge and technology together. But not all Nathaniel has good intentions. Some of those variants were too greedy, wanting to rule the entire Multiverse and thus a battle of the largest scale in history was formed. To end it all. Nathaniel used Alioth’s power to destroy the other universes and unite them into one.

Therefore, for a long time, the Multiverse has ceased to exist, but there is only one thing called “Sacred Timeline”. Nathaniel made a name for himself as He Who Remains, founded the TVA (Time Variance Authority) to prevent any fluctuations that might cause the eligible timeline to branch, and then took refuge in the Citadel at the End of Time until being found by Loki and Sylvie.

Sylvie’s hand with He Who Remains caused the Multiverse to recover, reality changed, and Kang the Conqueror rose again. He will have a major role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and as far as I know he will have a big role in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania. Although not a powerhouse like Thanos, Kang is extremely intelligent and therefore, this guy is probably more dangerous than the Mad Titan.

What is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?

In the comics, this was originally the largest-scale war between the Avengers and Kang, when he decided to invade Earth. Of course he really succeeded.

By promising to give a place to anyone who credits him, Kang has thrown people and forces large and small on Earth into chaos. He then carried out a series of raids on important international institutions of the world, including the United Nations. Kang was even more skilled when he hacked the US government’s Sentinal army and smashed the superhero team led by Captain America.

With an increasing advantage, Kang quickly penetrated the Earth’s defenses, leaving the superheroes only trying in vain to fend off. In the end, Washington DC was also flattened by him with a bomb from the future, and thus the government was forced to sign a surrender treaty. Even Thor was helpless and could only kneel and cry because he couldn’t stop Kang’s overwhelming army.

However, having the help of space and the superhero Triathlon having the power of three Triple Evil pyramids helped the Earth side have enough strength to counterattack. In space, Captain America personally challenged Kang, stopping him long enough for the superheroes to put all their strength into destroying Damocles – his sword-shaped ship.

With no other choice, he took Scarlet Centurion/Marcus – his son – off the ship before exploding, while alone down to the ground to duel with Captain America. With no tools left, Kang failed in a state of submission but was also proud of what he had done: built an empire, had a great victory, defeated the Avengers and forced it. they surrender.

The event ends with Kang being arrested, but he is later rescued by Marcus from the prison, despite his apparent unwillingness to be saved.

At this time, he revealed that Marcus was just a copy of Marcus – Carol Danvers’s lover in the past, and had long known that Marcus betrayed him because of his love for her. Kang’s intention was that if Marcus left him alone, he would let him inherit all the inheritance. But when Marcus comes back to save Kang and lies, he won’t forgive the traitor anymore. So he killed him.
